The Aaltos

Today I am gonna tell you about an architect I truly admire : Alvar Aalto, and his wife Aino Aalto. Hugo Alvar Henrik Aalto   was a Finnish architect  and designer.   In 1916, he then enrolled to study architecture at the Helsinki University of Technology . His studies were interrupted by the Finnish Civil War , in which he fought.  On 6 October 1924, Aalto married the architect Aino Marsio .  His architectural work, throughout his entire career and  together with his wife , would design not only the building but the interior surfaces, furniture, lamps, and glassware as well. His furniture designs are considered Scandinavian Modern , an aesthetic reflected in their elegant simplification and concern for materials, especially wood.  His work reflects a deep desire to humanize architecture through an unorthodox handling of form and materials that was both rational and intuitive. My favorite food

One of my favorite meals that holds a special place in my heart is the poke bowl. A poke bowl is a traditional Hawaiian dish that typically consists of diced raw fish, usually tuna or salmon, served over a bed of rice and topped with a variety of fresh vegetables, sauces, and seasonings.  I usually take the chicken as protein because I have troubles eating raw food (except when we talk about sushis of course !). I then like to try different toppings but I'll always have avocado and sesame seeds. The reason poke bowls have a special place in my food life is not only because of their tastiness, but also because they hold sentimental value. Whenever I visit my sister, we make it a point to enjoy one of these delightful bowls together. It has become our tradition, and is now linked to the memories of our time together.
